The Horse Brain: Simplified
9 a.m.–4 p.m. both days$250 for both daysLunch included
If you’ve spent any time around horses, you’ve probably had instructors, clinicians, and well-meaning friends tell you what to do. But how many have explained why your horse thinks the way it does?
Why does one horse seem eager to learn while another shuts down under the same training? Why does a horse become anxious in one situation but curious in another? Understanding the brain chemistry behind those responses can transform the way we communicate, train, and build trust with our horses.
Rather than diving into complex neuroscience, Jim simplifies the concepts that matter most to horsemen, making them practical, understandable, and immediately applicable. You’ll gain a practical understanding of how neurochemicals such as dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, cortisol, and norepinephrine influence a horse’s behavior, learning, confidence, and response to the world around them.
This program will take place in a classroom setting each morning, followed by lunch. The afternoon will be spent demonstrating the concepts introduced in the morning to a horse in the arena. If you are interested in lending your horse to the program, include that information on your Registration/Inquiry form.
